Congratulations on completing your LC2 project and creating your first curriculum vitae.

It is very important to save all the work that you have done in this project. You should always consider your resume as a work-in-progress document now and in the future when you start your career.

Keep on adding your achievements, new skills and experiences on a regular basis. Soon, you will be looking at the first CV that you created in the last week of 2010 with a big smile on your face as you see a timeline of many successful events.

As a teacher ,I resolve not to let any students fall through the cracks. If you are having problems,I will try to make an effort to do all I can do to help.

An Authentic Reading relevant to our theme-Crime and Punishment

Hello,

I stumbled upon an interesting reading on "msn-arabia"that is relevant to our lesson and theme "Crime and Punishment". I recommend that you read it yourself, underline the main words(verbs, nouns, adjectives...) related to crime and punishment and notice how they are used in context...There are also some words that might be new and useful. Pen them in your vocab list for future use in TASK 2 writing..

We are in the process of learning Speaking and Listening, both skills in much need of practice. I know you can hear, but can you listen?

Take advantage of all the in class online listening and speaking labs offered to you by your teacher, followed by helpful worksheets to assess your knowledge and level of understanding. You have also received a series of links useful for you to practice on your own, at home or anywhere.

One place you go to master the listening skill is http://www.bbc.co.uk/. Follow the steps to the radio section and take a leap of faith by listening to live BBC Radio with the latest news. You can choose from a list of topics which most interest you. If not, browse the site and familiarize yourself with all the activities at BBC.

In addition, we will start to discuss about the LC2 English Project "CV WRITING" Enrichment Program. Along with the provided booklet, your teacher will provide you with a wide variety of material to help you build your CV and learn to vocabulary associate to finding a job.

IELTS WritingTask 1-table

Good afternoon gentelmen,

"Practice makes perfect".That is how the saying goes.
This applies to writng in general and TASK 1 IN SPECIFIC..DRILL, PRACTICE.
You might think this is so boring..why don't we write something more creative.
"Just do it" as the Nike add says...and I believe you can.

Below are some writing tips that generally apply to Task 1 writing.

1.Write your introduction by writing one or two sentences that summarize what the graph/table/pie chart shows. DO NOT COPY THE SAME EXACT WORDS FROM THE QUESTION.
2.Decide how you will organize your essay
3.Think about overall trends and interesting points.
4.Put your ideas together in logical order
5.Support your ideas with specific statistics-data-percentage-numbers
6.Use linking words to connect your ideas
7.Write a brief conclusion summarizing the major trend of the chart as a whole.

YOU HAVE TO WRITE A MINIMUM OF 150 WORDS.

Comparing / contrasting

Dear students,

Are apples and oranges the same because they are both a fruit?
What makes them the same? What makes them different?
What is the difference between a comparison and a contrast?
What is a similarity? A difference?
How can we read data from a chart or a table and compare / contrast it?
Writing Task 1 requires us to compare data, therefore, please take note of all the expressions relevant to describing changes in data / numbers.
